Sassy is a smiler

For the first time today when we came home and uncrated we were greeted with a huge smile. Sassy is going to live up to her name. She was spayed on Tuesday and I'm having a hard time keeping her from running and jumping. The first night she was still doped up from the surgery and didn't eat or do much of anything except sleep in her crate. The next two days were spent trying to stop from picking up EVERYTHING in the house. She took stuffies, a hat, scarves, sweater, headphones, a sneaker, a reusable Publix bag and other things. She never chewed anything, she just wanted to have it. She has a problem with one of her back legs but it's not hampering her in any way. She 's spending most of her inside time in her crate, but has joined us in the living room a couple of times. Two potty accidents but those were probably my fault, misreading signals. She's eating well, sleeping thru the night, in her crate but not closed. She hasn't bothered with the bird and seems to like Maggie. I follow up more later.

Sassy Before Retirement

Not many of us have pictures of our hounds in their lives before retirement, but Sassy's racing owner was nice enough to share some of her.

Puppies!!! Torie, who now lives in Nashville with her adoptive family, is on the left (white and brindle).  Lady Lee is in the middle (brindle).  Sassy is on the right (white and fawn).  These three girls are littermates.
Sisters at play.

Sassy, a little older, playing in the turnout pen.

This little girl wasn't destined for greatness as a racer, but you'd never know that from seeing this incredible action shot.  Photo by Rachel Hogue
